#Darbhavati_(Dabhoi) Town in Gujrat State near Vadodara

Generally we visit to the places which are popular among people, focused by any kind of media or group of people. India was a country which was bounded by many different small and large kingdoms. As India went through the time from ancient age to this 20th century, some kingdoms with their important cities or capitals succeeded in maintaining the popularity, fame, wealth and uniqueness till date. But some cities or capitals failed in maintaining the same may be due to some reasons. Some small cities at that time, became big and popular than adjacent cities due to change of kings chair, some big cities became defamed due to some political stands. Unfortunately we people neglect such old cities or give secondary preference to such cities which had fame, glory, wealth once upon a time.
Anyway, Dabhoi is such city near very popular city Vadodara (Baroda). Hardly some people other than itself Dabhoi citizens might know that, once a time Dabhoi was a great, glorious and popular city. #DARBHAVATI was its ancient name. City was ruled by CHALUKYA, CHAVDA, WAGHELA and MUGHALS. City has four gates among which, Hira Darvaja is most carved gate. City has seen a big and popular battle between Trimbakrao Dabhade and Bajirao Peshwa 1st on 1 April 1731. There is one old fort in the city built in 11th century as per the information. We visited that fort and hereby showing some glimpses of it. Governement should focus on cleanliness around the fort. Dabhoi city has a Nice Jewel in form of this Fort.

So we selected road of Goraj, a small village in Waghodia tahasil. We went on, and we reached to “Muni Seva Ashram” which is a well known hospital for Cancer treatment. We had a fresh Adrak Tea there in one of the tea stall and we just discussed that in periphery, there should be an old temple. People may know or we have to search in villages. अहिल्यापुर येथील होळकरकालीन बारव (प्राचीन खान्देश) (ता. शिरपूर जि. धुळे)

         तेजस्विनी अहिल्याबाई होळकर यांनी संपूर्ण देशभर अनेक विहिरी, घाट, मंदिरे बांधली. त्यातली एक मोठी पायविहीर निदर्शनास आणत आहे. अहिल्यापुर गावात (शिरपुर तालुका, धुळे जी.) सदर पायविहीर बांधलेली असून तिचा स्पष्ट उल्लेख कुठे आढळून येत नाही. बांधकाम कधी केले त्याबद्दलही एकमत नाही. परंतु हि पायाविहीर अतिशय सुबक, मजबुत व होळकर कालीन आहे हे निश्चित. बाहेरून विहीर पडक्या अवस्थेत दिसते, भिंतींवर पिंपळाची झाडे वाढली आहेत, परंतु पायऱ्यानी विहिरीत प्रवेश केल्यावर तिची भव्यता अचंबित करते. ज्या कोणी अभियंत्याने हि विहीर बनवली असेल त्याच्या कौशल्यास दाद द्यावी लागेल. एखादा छोटा राजवाडा असावा त्या प्रमाणे बांधकाम आहे. विहीर एकूण तीन टप्प्यात बांधलेली असून, जसे जसे आपण पुढील दालनात जातो तशी तशी या विहिरीची सुबकता आकर्षित करते. प्रत्येक दालनात महिरपी कमानी आहेत. विहिरीस सुरवाती पासून शेवटपर्यंत एकूण १०६ दगडी पायऱ्या आहेत. विहिरीचे बांधकाम दगड व विटांनी झाले आहे. भिंतींचा पाया चौकोनी दगडांचा असुन त्यावर विटांचा थर रचला आहे. भिंतींमध्ये काही ठिकाणी चक्र, उपद...
