अहिल्यापुर येथील होळकरकालीन बारव (प्राचीन खान्देश) (ता. शिरपूर जि. धुळे)

        तेजस्विनी अहिल्याबाई होळकर यांनी संपूर्ण देशभर अनेक विहिरी, घाट, मंदिरे बांधली. त्यातली एक मोठी पायविहीर निदर्शनास आणत आहे. अहिल्यापुर गावात (शिरपुर तालुका, धुळे जी.) सदर पायविहीर बांधलेली असून तिचा स्पष्ट उल्लेख कुठे आढळून येत नाही. बांधकाम कधी केले त्याबद्दलही एकमत नाही. परंतु हि पायाविहीर अतिशय सुबक, मजबुत व होळकर कालीन आहे हे निश्चित.

बाहेरून विहीर पडक्या अवस्थेत दिसते, भिंतींवर पिंपळाची झाडे वाढली आहेत, परंतु पायऱ्यानी विहिरीत प्रवेश केल्यावर तिची भव्यता अचंबित करते. ज्या कोणी अभियंत्याने हि विहीर बनवली असेल त्याच्या कौशल्यास दाद द्यावी लागेल. एखादा छोटा राजवाडा असावा त्या प्रमाणे बांधकाम आहे. विहीर एकूण तीन टप्प्यात बांधलेली असून, जसे जसे आपण पुढील दालनात जातो तशी तशी या विहिरीची सुबकता आकर्षित करते. प्रत्येक दालनात महिरपी कमानी आहेत. विहिरीस सुरवाती पासून शेवटपर्यंत एकूण १०६ दगडी पायऱ्या आहेत.

विहिरीचे बांधकाम दगड व विटांनी झाले आहे. भिंतींचा पाया चौकोनी दगडांचा असुन त्यावर विटांचा थर रचला आहे. भिंतींमध्ये काही ठिकाणी चक्र, उपदेवता किंवा इतर प्रतिकात्मक शिल्पे डागलेली आहेत. पायऱ्यानी प्रथम दालनात प्रवेश करताना उजव्या भिंतीमध्ये श्री गणेशाचे छान मंदिर आहे.

गावातील लोकांशी चर्चा केली असता त्या काळात ८० % विहीर पाण्याने भरलेली असायची असे त्यांच्याकडून कळले. त्यातील तथ्य शोधणे गरजेचे आहे. तसेच स्वातंत्र्योत्तर काळात प्रथम दालनात एक पिठाची गिरणी सुरु केली होती. तिचे अवशेष अजूनही तिथे आहेत. विहिरीच्या बाजूस एक भगवान शंकराचे मंदिर असुन तेहि त्याच काळातील असावे असा कयास आहे. इथे जास्त विस्तार करण्याऐवजी फोटोंवरून वाचकांना विहिरीची भव्यता व वंदनीय अहिल्याबाई होळकर यांच्या दूरदृष्टीची कल्पना नक्की येईल असे मला वाटते. धन्यवाद.

Tejaswini Ahilyabai Holkar built many wells, ghats and temples all over the country. I am pointing out one of the well. The well is built in Ahilyapur village (Shirpur Tahsil, Dhule district) and there is no clear mention of it. There is also no consensus on when the construction was done. But it is certain that this foundation is very beautiful, strong and carved.

From the outside, the well looks dilapidated, with Pipal trees growing on the walls, but its grandeur is astonishing when the steps enter the well. The skill of the engineer who built this well is to be appreciated. The construction is like a small palace. The well is constructed in three phases in total, and the beauty of the well attracts as you go into the next hall. Each hall has arched arches. The well has a total of 106 stone steps from beginning to end.

The well is constructed of stone and bricks. The foundation of the walls is square stone with a layer of bricks on it. The walls are inlaid with chakras, deities or other symbolic sculptures in some places. There is a nice temple of Lord Ganesha in the right wall as you enter the first hall by the steps.

Talking to the villagers, they said that at that time 80% of the well used to filled with water. It is necessary to find out the facts. Also, in the post-independence period, a flour mill was started in the first hall. Its remains are still there. There is a temple of Lord Shiva near the well and it is believed to be of the same period.
